about mijke
Mijke was born on September 8th 1975 in Zwolle, the Netherlands. At very young age she was convinced she wanted to become a teacher. As an adolescent she also became interested in arts and she made drawings in every white spot of her schoolbooks, mostly sur-realistic drawings.
Mijke's interest in the Arts are very wide. She mostly makes paintings, photos and poems but she also makes videoart, sculptures and she does performances. She uses the materials which suits best for the concept she wants to work out.
At the moment Mijke follows the 'Art & Design Teacher' course at the School of Arts 'Willem de Kooning' in Rotterdam. She has her own company 'kijk eens... kunst', works as a fine art teacher at the University INHolland in Rotterdam and works for the Boijmans van Beuningen museum.
